However, I've had a very mixed experience with the teachers. I've had a good experience with the counselors, and the IB coordinators (current and future) are excellent! Junior: Overall, I'd say the school has a good atmosphere: the majority of staff are kind and respectful, as are most of the students. But the administration is doing its best to create a better environment for all students. In addition, the safety at this school has definitely been an issue, especially with student-caused fires and threats. ASB is also not simply a place for students to come if they want to express a change, it requires membership and an application. Many students are unable to fit in ASB as a class because of their other commitments, causing the ASB to remain aloof from the majority of student voices and has thus created an "elitist" like environment. It is nearly impossible to get legislation passed through ASB because ASB is a class of its own, and not an extracurricular. For one, there is really a lack of student representation, especially within the student government. Senior: Olympia High School has so much going for it! With such wonderful teachers and opportunities for students to get out of their comfort zones, there is really so much to be proud of. If a student were to commit a serious felony, then action should be taken. Now, there are exceptions to arresting students on campus.
On top of that, that arrest will be on their personal record. There shouldn't be students arrested on campus because it endangers their education and their health.
In my opinion, arresting students in an unnecessary action can potentially ruin the individual's life. During the 2022-2023 school year, there have been two known fights between students where the students fighting got arrested.
One of the things that come to mind is safety and health among other students. Although Garfield is a great school, there are many things that Garfield can improve on. Some of the extracurricular activities that I participated in were Garfield Swim and Dive and Theatre. Senior: So far, my experience at Garfield High School has been great in my four years here! At Garfield, there are plenty of clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities to keep students busy.
